My Nurture magazine design involved laying out feature designs for this parenting magazine. It was created especially for patients and parents at The Portland Hospital, a private hospital in London. Evolving the magazine design style, I designed for more than three issues. I kept an eye on consistency, thought about the clientele and how to visually communicate in a sensitive way. The look and feel I kept fresh and varied throughout the pages. Working as part of the Phoebus Associates team, I think we really brought this about.
Design included features for general health and in pregnancy with expert insight and information. Particularly important to convey was how well Portland Hospital can support patients. Covering all of patients’ life needs, my designs for features were on lifestyle topics such as fashion, beauty and recipes. When it came to baby and child, these included articles on colds and viruses, puberty, clothing, equipment and useful guides. I also revamped the cover design approach starting from my first issue. From a technical point of view, I was responsible for checking provided image quality and sourcing imagery. I checked all my design artwork thoroughly before supplying to print deadlines. Working on Nurture Magazine design was satisfying due to the engaging and insightful content I brought to life.
